Volunteer – Giving the Gift of Time

Volunteers are a special part of the Kirkhaven Family. Working side-by-side with our staff, volunteers enhance our programs, bring companionship and friendship to our residents, and allow Kirkhaven to provide the very best experience for all who live here. Volunteering at Kirkhaven is a rewarding personal experience, as well as an opportunity to gain new skills, meet new people, explore career options, and learn more about yourself.

Most volunteer opportunities allow for flexible scheduling, giving you the freedom to volunteer as many hours per week or per month as you’d like. We also have opportunities for one-time projects, such as painting a room or landscaping our courtyard. We have volunteer opportunities interacting with residents, as well as positions in our administrative, finance, or facilities departments.

We offer opportunities for groups to volunteer together. We are also open to your ideas so you can design your own volunteer experience. Anyone 16 years or older is welcome to volunteer at Kirkhaven.

Help from Home ‒ Plan a Fundraiser

If you want to help Kirkhaven from home, consider planning a fundraiser. Contact Alex Brauer at 585-461-1991 ext. 3034 or Abrauer@kirkhaven.com to discuss how you can best help Kirkhaven from home.

    Volunteer Process

        Recurring or Long-Term Volunteers

Volunteers interested in a recurring volunteer experience should apply online in the form below. Once your application is received and processed (within 7-10 business days), you will be contacted by a member of our team for a brief phone interview. An in-person interview may also be scheduled.

Before a volunteer is assigned, applicants must complete a background check and orientation. Further training will be provided as needed. Volunteers aged 16+ are welcome. Kirkhaven prefers at least a three-month commitment. Many of our volunteers have been with us for years and are important members of the Kirkhaven Family.

        One-Time or Short-Term Volunteers

People interested in doing a time-limited service project at Kirkhaven or providing a service for one day (such as a DJ who wants to volunteer for a party, or someone who wants to volunteer to paint a room) should indicate their plan in the form.
