End-of-Life Care

"Teach Us to Number Our Days"

We believe patients in the final stages of life benefit from extra support and amenities with their care, as well as the support of their families and special friends.

Kirkhaven has developed an end-of-life care program for our long-term residents that includes environmental enhancements, specific staff training and flexible pain management.

Kirkhaven's comfort care is provided by Kirkhaven staff, and augmented by volunteers as appropriate. Our goal is to provide care to the resident in the familiar environs of his/her room, surrounded by family and friends. This type of care has demonstrated clinical, psychological, social and spiritual benefits.

Kirkhaven's end-of-life comfort care may include any of the following:

  • one-to-one care
  • bathing in the Century tub
  • music therapy
  • soft lighting
  • flexible pain management
  • spiritual support

We encourage around-the-clock visitation and provide basic hospitality and one-on-one support counseling as needed.

If you have any questions regarding our end-of-life care, please call Paula Henry, Director of Social Work, or Nadine Reich, Director of Nursing, at (585) 461-1991.

Kirkhaven is a community.
